National Hockey League (NHL) The National Hockey League official web site. During focus groups related to the Faith Communities Today project, one participant said that he knew more about the NHL than he did the church down the street. Thanks to FACT that would change. In his honor, we provide a link to the NHL.

Introduction:

The United Methodist Church (UMC) is a theologically moderate to liberal, Protestant Christian denomination.  It was officially incorporated as an organization in 1968 as a merger of The Methodist Church and The Evangelical United Brethren Church. and currently has approximately 8,495,000 members with 36,127 churches in the United States.  The United Methodist Church is the 3rd largest religious group in the country.

The United Methodist Church participation in the FACT project included a survey of 1000 churches randomly chosen from a listing of all UMC congregations in the United States.  A total of 601 questionnaires were returned for a 60.1% response rate.   View the version of the questionnaire used by the United Methodist Church.

If you are interested in obtaining specific information about the results of the United Methodist Church survey, please get in touch with their official contact person Craig This at cthis@gcom-umc.org

Several additional persons were involved in collecting the United Methodist Church information.  Craig This was the key researcher and is the person charged with encouraging denominational congregations to use this information, and Thomas McAnally is the media contact person for this information.  Ken Bedell and Jackson Carroll also contributed to the UMC research project

Background of the FACT project:

The Faith Communities Today (FACT) project, first know as the Cooperative Congregational Studies Project, is a joint effort with 44 faith groups and denominations to assess religious life in the U. S. on the congregational level. The Hartford Institute for Religion Research, Hartford Seminary, coordinated the project, which is partially funded by the Lilly Endowment.

In addition, read the press release they have distributed to the public.
