The Episcopal Church, USA
The Episcopal Church is a theologically
liberal, Protestant Christian denomination within the Anglican Communion, The
Church of England. Episcopal worship is marked by the use of the Book
of Common Prayer and the centrality of the celebration of the Eucharist.
The denomination was officially formed as an
organization in the United States in 1789 and adopted its current name in
1967. The Episcopal Church currently has approximately 2,537,000 members with 7,355
churches in the United States.
The Episcopal participation in the
FACT project included a survey of 1,070 churches randomly chosen from a listing of
all Episcopal congregations in the United States. A total of 726 questionnaires
were returned for a 67.85% response rate. View
